Proposed New Local Injuries Unit at Ennis Hospital

A new LIU is now being constructed to replace the existing LIU, and will provide a service primarily for the reception, assessment, examination and treatment of patients who have sustained acute adult emergencies and all minor injuries in both adults and children. The new LIU will be incorporated into a new single storey building situated at the south east side of the existing main building and connecting through the existing courtyard and corridor with the main hospital. The single story build must be future proofed to allow for a First Floor level on top at a later date. The new LIU facility will encompass a spectrum of local injuries care services, including the provision of the following: •Entrance Foyer/Lobby •Reception/Waiting (28 seats) •Triage •Cubicles (5No) •Clean Utility •Nurse Station •Office •WC/Shower •Store •Dirty Utility •Link Corridor Gross area of the new Local Injuries Unit is circa 312SqM External works include footpaths, ambulance bay, landscaping etc. The works include proposals for remedial / alteration works to the existing MAU Ward so as to enable a new link between the hospital and the new Local Injuries Unit.
