Tender description

Network Rail is procuring a supplier framework which Network Rail intends to use on a non-exclusive basis every time it buys cable. This procurement covers 76 Cable Types and is divided into 2 lots. Lot 1 relates to individual purchases of cables types of lengths up to and including 2 000 m. Lot 2 relates to individual purchase of cable types of lengths exceeding 2 000 m. This lot covers the procurement of cable quantities less than or equal to 2 000 m. Network Rail is procuring a supplier framework which Network Rail intends to use on a non-exclusive basis every time it buys cable. The cables relate variously to signaling, telecoms, power and fibre optic. In addition to supplying the relevant cables, successful tenderers will be expected to manage: — purchase orders, — inventory, — cable drums, — return of goods, — cable theft prevention, — and will also be required to provide certain technical support services. Network Rail expects that the following outcomes will be achieved under this procurement: — achieving best value in respect of the cost of cables, — efficiency in buying practices and supply chain management performance, — reduction in waste (e.g. unused cable drums), — better relationships with suppliers, and — making suppliers accountable for their performance and rewarding best practice. Network Rail are seeking expressions of interest from all prospective cable suppliers interested in this opportunity and it is not by any means restricted to Network Rail's current cable suppliers. This lot covers the procurement of cable quantities greater than 2 000 m per demand.
