Tender description

This contract is for the redevelopment of Kingston Cromwell Road Bus Station, which includes demolishing the original structure, replacing the existing building and canopy, installation of mechanical and electrical systems, resurfacing, drainage and lighting. The design is at RIBA Stage 4 for architectural and structural elements and RIBA Stage 3 for civils and highways. The successful contractor will be required to complete certain elements of design, in particular a mechanical and electrical (M&E) package for a lift. The estimated total value range is 4 000 000 to 6 000 000 GBP. Transport for London (TfL) requires a contractor to construct the new bus station as per the planning consent. The anticipated duration of the contract is 18 months. The bus station currently serves 23 bus routes and is used by 12 000 passengers a day which is twice the number of passengers that the station was originally built for. This redevelopment project will enhance the customer experience at the bus station. Potential suppliers not registered on TfL's eTendering system should register as a new supplier on TfL's eTendering system (https://procontract.due-north.com/Register). Any potential supplier that is registered should log onto TfL's eTendering system in order to locate the SQ on the system. Potential suppliers should search for ‘Kingston Cromwell Road Bus Station Replacement ’ within the search facility to locate this opportunity and the associated SQ. Potential suppliers should express their interest in the opportunity by completing and submitting the SQ by the deadline for receipt stated in IV.2.2). TfL reserves the right to cancel or terminate this procurement at TfL's discretion and without liability to any applicant. Works to provide carriageway replacement for the bus station and additional accessible bus stops, utility upgrade, new lighting and the provision of real time information. The following works are needed to redevelop the bus station: — demolition of existing buildings and canopy, — construction of new buildings (including operational office with customer information window, driver facilities, retail units and customer toilets), — installation of a new low-level canopy over the customer waiting and walking area, — widen the bus passenger Island to allow improved passenger and pedestrian movement through the station, — resurface the bus station carriageway and footways, — upgrade the drainage system, and — installation of a new lighting and PA system. Temporary welfare facilities will be provided for bus drivers throughout the demolition and rebuilding phases of the works. These facilities will be provided and maintained by the contractor.
