Tier 1 & 2 Alcohol Information/Advice and Counselling Service

Tender description

A service for NHS Southampton City in partnership with Southampton City Council for the provision of a Tier 1 & 2 Alcohol Information/Advice and Counselling Service in Southampton. The purpose of the Service is to provide an Information, Advice and Screening and Brief Intervention Service (Tier 1 – Low Intensity) and a Medium Intensity Service (Tier 2). The Tier 1 service is to provide alcohol screening and brief intervention for people who require minimum intervention in order to make changes which reduce alcohol related harm. The Tier 2 service is to provide time limited (6-12 sessions) interventions for people who need more support in order to make these changes. The principal aims are to: • Reduce alcohol related hospital admissions by contributing to the alcohol treatment pathway operating in the city. • Reduce alcohol related harm for individuals and their families. • Provide information and advice services and individual interventions to encourage people drinking at hazardous and harmful levels to reduce their drinking. • The service will operate on an open access and referral basis and will proactively promote access in the general population and include dedicated referral routes for key service areas (e.g. Probation, Emergency Department and Primary Care).
