Somerset County Council (SCC) and Somerset West and Taunton (SW&T) are requesting expressions of interest for an asset management software system. It is important to note that Somerset Authorities have been asked to submit a business case to the secretary of state setting out proposals for local government reform and those potential future model options for a new Somerset Unitary Authority. The business case(s) are currently being assessed with an anticipated decision made by mid-2021. Whilst SCC/SW&T intend to publish the notice for this procurement through ‘Find a Tender’ in the coming months, the future model for local government in Somerset may not be known or have been confirmed by this time, and therefore the initial scope covers the current SCC/SW&T requirements only. The intention of this PIN is partly to help us explore insights and gain an understanding of how a system/contract procured for this requirement could accommodate the current requirements and any potential unitary model changes in local government in Somerset.
