Germany is an important market for high quality beef and lamb, lamb in particular has a low level of per capita consumption on the German market – less than one kilo per capita per annum – offering good opportunities for market growth. Exports of British lamb to Germany have increased sharply in recent years and it is important this momentum is maintained. The quality standard mark for British beef and lamb is a brand that is actively used in Germany, as is the PGI West Country beef ad West Country lamb. The successful representative will be responsible for increasing sales of quality assured British lamb and beef in Germany and Austria. Must be based or have a commercial office in Germany and have knowledge of the beef and lamb market in Germany and Austria. Representative/agency requirements for this market include, but not limited to: • liaising effectively with the UK/France based AHDB Export team by regular telephone, email and face-to-face communication. This may require foreign travel to AHDB Head Office or major food events (e.g. SIAL Paris, Anuga) for meetings. The total number of face-to-face meetings, including at events, is expected to be a minimum of 3 per year; • building and maintaining effective relationships with lamb and beef exporters, agents, representatives, importers and retailers. As appropriate, work jointly with these contacts to successfully deliver promotional activities; • maintaining AHDBs commercial platform as a British meat exporter, including close liaison with German and Austrian retailers and distributors.
