Tender description

Devon Partnership NHS Trust is undertaking a procurement process to secure an additional 16 adult acute psychiatric inpatient beds in Exeter. This procurement is being carried out by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the Commissioners. This procurement process is being undertaken to secure an additional 16 adult acute psychiatric inpatient beds within the catchment area of the patients of 30 km driving distance from the mid-range point between Exeter and Torquay. There is a national target as part of the Five Year Forward View (FYFV) to eliminate inappropriate Out of Area placements by 2020/21. The procurement of additional inpatient capacity in Exeter is a fundamental part of the plan to achieve the FYFV target. The aim is to provide high quality holistic care in a safe and therapeutic setting for service users in the most acute and vulnerable state of their illness and who cannot be managed at home with the involvement of the Home Treatment Team. This will be provided in collaboration with service user, carers, statutory and non-statutory organisations in order to ensure that admissions and inpatient episodes are timely and appropriate.
