Tender description

NHS Blood and Transplant is a Special Health Authority. The authority has a requirement to undertake a triplex screening assay for HBV DNA, HCV and HIV RNAs and assays for WNV and HEV RNA specifically intended and CE marked for donation screening using an automated system. This VEAT is for a direct award to the current provider as NHSBT is awaiting the outcome of the Advisory Committee on the Safety of Blood, Tissues and Organs (SaBTO) review of pool size for HBV (i.e. MPX) and subsequent instruction from DHSC. The impact of this review will affect the specification for future tenders. The review has been delayed due to technical advisors to SaBTO being diverted to the national response to the Covid-19 pandemic. There is no alternative technical support available. This VEAT outlines a direct award to NHSBT's current provider for screening donated products for HBV, HCV, HIV, WNV and HEV nucleic acids in NTMRL.
