Tender description

The successful supplier will be required to provide catering services for Shirehampton Primary School. Shirehampton Primary School is located in Shirehampton, Bristol, BS11 9RR, near to the river Avon and Avonmouth. We have over 500 amazing children attending our school ! We pride ourselves on our ‘open door’ policy: fantastic and hardworking staff and governors plus extremely supportive parents. The School is acutely aware of the additional pupil educational and lifestyle benefit that will be achieved through the provision of an engaging catering service. We expect and require the successful caterer to provide active support to most pupil and community events throughout the year, with a very busy School calendar. The client recognises that school food standards provide an important nutritional safety net for pupils; therefore, all food and drink provided by or on behalf of the School shall comply with the school food standards legislation. The client requires year one menus to be fully compliant with the Food for Life Silver standard. The guaranteed performance contract will commence on 25.10.2020, for an initial period of 5 years, ending 24.10.2025, with the opportunity to extend for a further period of 2 years at the discretion of the school governing body. This is the second time the market has been tested for the catering service. The client intends to focus heavily on healthy, fresh, seasonal, locally sourced produce prepared onsite and sees the catering service as an exciting opportunity to complement the overall pupil experience, through the regular introduction of new ingredients, themed and promotional events. The successful supplier will be required to play their part in acting as a catalyst for improvement of the pupil experience. The client requires the successful supplier to be extremely engaged in leveraging the catering service, to the benefit of pupils and the local community alike, proactively supporting a very active school calendar, with multiple promotions in any given month. A pupil Centric Ethos is required in practise, continuing the high level of pupil engagement that the School has previously developed. The successful supplier will work closely with the client to manage the provision of catering and the overall meal experience. The value of the current catering contract is circa 100 000 GBP. The client invites suppliers to consider offers of appropriate capital investment; however, no significant requirements have been identified at this stage.
