Request for Quote for SBS Health Champion and Men’s Engagement Training

Kent County Council (KCC) is part of an EU-funded inter-regional project called Step By Step (SBS) which comprises a partnership of 10 organisations. The project aims to reduce health inequalities experienced by men and is focused on developing a new model of community health and wellbeing. This model aims to improve men’s emotional wellbeing, reduce social isolation, improve physical health and increase men’s participation in their communities and employment. This is achieved through encouraging men to group together on practical activities and/or tasks through the setting up and running of SBS social and activity groups (SBS Groups). All SBS groups will be part of a wider SBS network that enables easy access to community and health resources as well as facilitating skill sharing and networking between groups. KCC is looking to commission a provider/s to deliver part of the SBS project, focused on training men to be Health Champions and Employment Champions as defined in the SBS Core Model. Both Health Champions and Employment Champions will be members of the SBS community/social group who can be developed to have the skills and confidence to support other members of their group with health, wellbeing and employment issues, primarily through healthy conversations tailored to the way men talk and support each other. We understand that men talk about health and mental wellbeing in different ways and the successful bidder/s will need to frame conversations and promotional materials correctly in order to successfully engage with men.
