IT Tralee is seeking to purchase a Single Use Bioreactor Suite as four (4) separate Lots as follows; Lot 1 - a Single use bioreactor, Lot 2 - Liquid Nitrogen Dewar, Lot 3 - CO2 Cell Culture Incubator & Automated Cell Counter and Lot 4 - Fluorescent attachment (for an inverted microscope). Single-use bioreactors are widely used in the field of mammalian cell culture and are now rapidly replacing conventional bioreactors. Cells isolated from animal tissues or human cell lines can be expanded in culture for the production of virus vaccines, various therapeutic proteins and to generate functional cells or tissue analogues for regenerative medicine. A liquid nitrogen dewar is central to any cell culture work and provides an essential storage facility for cell culture lines over long periods of time. For the types of projects Shannon ABC will be involved in, an application specific dewar is necessary to cope with the storage demand of the cell lines necessary for this work. A cell culture incubator is designed to maintain a constant temperature and high humidity for the growth of tissue culture cells under a set CO2 atmosphere. Features of cell culture incubators such as programmable controls with password protection, temperature alarms, CO2 alarms, and door opening alarms enhance convenience and security for the user.
