Network Rail Training is evolving to meet the ever-increasing needs of our business. The technology that exists currently for the planning and administration of training courses does not adequately support the learning management process and is dependent on the use Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Outlook mailboxes. Consequently, Training Centres within the Routes operate non-standardised processes for the planning and administration of training, which creates unnecessary issues for other areas of the training support function and often leads to a poor learner experience. The existing manual processes also increases the likelihood of human error occurring. Network Rail would like to implement software which manages the planning and administration of training to replace the use of spreadsheets and mailboxes. The new system will be required to manage the following elements of the planning and administration process: • Course and delegate pre-requisites • Course, trainer, location and equipment needs • Delegate joining instructions • Delegate approvals • Management information reports • Delegate swaps and cancellations • Updates to delegate learning records and competence • Integration with existing legacy systems
