The environmental impact of the Covid virus in the Falkland Islands

Tender description

The proposed project is a scoping exercise to work with the Falkland Islands Government (FIG) to assess existing and potential future impacts of the Covid virus to provide the basis for developing long term response strategies in the Falkland Islands. These strategies will include long term impact monitoring and development of a 'Falkland Islands Green Recovery Strategy' that takes account of environmental management and societal needs. Key activities in the Falklands will be to: - Investigate Covid-19 environmental risks and impacts (positive/negative) including impacts on Government/NGO ability to undertake environmental management programmes and including the use of social surveys in partnership with FIG; - Scope development of a Green Recovery Strategy; - Identify Covid related environmental metrics, indicators and monitoring protocols and the use of information management systems to collate and report on data collected; - Share results of the work with other UK Overseas Territories through a workshop at the end of the project.
