Tender description
Inland Fisheries Ireland wish to invite tenders from experienced Contractors to carry out the removal of an existing steel footbridge and fabricate and install a replacement bridge. The existing bridge structure is severely corroded and is no longer fit for purpose. The existing reinforced concrete abutments are in a good structural condition and shall remain unaltered. It is proposed the the removal and replacement of the bridge shall be carried out using a mobile crane set up on the adjacent N56 public road. This will most likely involve closing the road during the works and it is envisaged the works will be done out of normal working hours i.e. on a Sunday or overnight, road closure to be agreed with Donegal County Council. To facilitate transport and galvanising, it is proposed to fabricate the 22m long bridge structure in 2 halves and these would be bolted together on site, prior to craning into position. Restraint frames will also be bolted prior to craning.
