Clarion Housing Group are intending to award the arial photography contract to Upshot UK Ltd. As this will be a small and specialist contract, the preferred approach is to award a national contract on a 2 + 2 year basis. Upshot UK are the only providers in the in UK who offer this service and have this technology, and are able to provide the service on a national level. Upshot use unique specialist equipment, which involves ground based station masts with cameras reaching heights in excess of 26 meters. Upshot UK are able to undertake photography, thermal images, videos and panoramic images if required. We’re aware of other similar ways of delivering the service, for example drones. Drone surveys are also more costly and have restrictions on them, which make them bothersome, such as weather permitting, sort flying time, obtaining a permit to use, collisions, some areas, especially in London, are also restricted where no drones are able to be used. This transparency notice does not place any obligation on the authority to enter into this contract.
