GC Intuvo 9 000 instruments with MS model 5977B including support and maintenance. These instruments are intended as an extension to and partial replacement for an existing fleet of Agilent GCMS instrumentation. Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) is an agency of the Irish Department of Justice. In addition to the maintenance and upkeep of the National DNA Database, FSI plays a vital role in the detection, investigation and prosecution of offences relating to possession of offensive materials e.g. controlled drugs, explosives and offensive sprays. The principal analytical technique used in these investigations is gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. FSI anticipates receiving approximately 12 000 cases of suspected controlled drugs in 2020. It is vital to the operations of the Irish Criminal Justice System that FSI offers a continuous analytical system without disruption in this area. FSI intends to award a contract to purchase additional GC Intuvo 9 000 instruments with MS model 5977B from Agilent Technologies Ireland Ltd including support and maintenance using the negotiated procedure without prior publication under Article 32(3)(b) of the EU Procurement Directive. These instruments are intended as an extension to and partial replacement for an existing fleet of Agilent GCMS instrumentation. The existing Agilent instruments are linked to each other and to FSI’s Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) through Masshunter software, which is specific to Agilent Technologies. The LIMS is central to the operations of FSI and is heavily customised to FSI’s needs. Case submission details, analytical results, reports issued, and exhibit tracking, are all stored on the LIMS.
