Tender description

This is a prior information notice (PIN) only: publication and a call for competition will be conducted once the scope of work is fully defined and approved. This programme will implement interventions that best support GoU’s ambitions for economic growth and prosperity. The programme will help GoU deliver on the agro-industrialisation ambitions of its third National Development Plan (NDPIII) to accelerate employment-intensive growth in Uganda. It will build and develop markets for agriculture and trade, increase incomes, improve resilience to climate change and empower women. The context and systems within which the programme will operate are complex as they relate to domestic, regional and international markets affected by global shocks, including Covid-19, climate change and changing political economy over a 7-year timeframe. This makes it hard to predict in advance the precise interventions that will be needed to help GoU reach its ambitions. The programme will rigorously test different intervention options, and then scale up and focus on those that have the most impact on creating employment and growth in climate smart ways. This will ensure good value for money to the UK tax-payer, by dedicating the bulk of funds on interventions that have been proven to be most effective.
