Tender description

The Trust offers a wide range of specialist and general hospital services at our two main hospital sites, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital (London SW10) and West Middlesex University Hospital (Middlesex TW7). The imaging service reflects the needs of teaching hospital and district general hospital environments and imaging modalities include CT, MRI, interventional radiology, radio-nuclide imaging and therapy, mammography, general ‘plain film’ imaging, DXA scanning, ultrasound and laser treatment. We undertake approximately 500 000 examinations each year caring for inpatients, outpatients, emergency patients and those referred by colleagues in the community including general practitioners. Both main Trust sites have Emergency Departments providing 24/7/365 service to the local area and beyond. We aspire to be an innovative and high quality imaging department and are proud of the QSI accreditation that we obtained for the imaging department across both sites in 2019. In order to provide our imaging service we require certain services provided by medical physics. Chelsea and Westminster Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust does not currently have an in house medical physics department and therefore requires these services to be provided by an outside provider. The needs are currently covered under three contracts with different providers. As part of the Trust’s long term financial plan and to reassure ourselves and commissioners that we are spending public money wisely we are retendering the service. Please note physics support for ultrasound is not part of the tender.
