NHS England are seeking to engage with suppliers in relation to a contract for the national co-ordination of community first response. We are seeking to discuss this opportunity with suppliers who are experienced in the delivery of CPR and Defibrillator training, development and delivery of training programmes, establishing and co-coordinating volunteer groups, reviewing training provision and making improvements The long term plan milestones for cardiovascular disease included a commitment to work with our partners to improve community first response and build defibrillator networks to improve survival from out of hospital cardiac arrest. This project aims to support delivery of that commitment. This will significantly contribute to the ambition to make the survival rate post out of hospital cardiac arrest amongst the best in the world, raising it from 7 % to 25 %. The aim of this project is to significantly increase the number of people who can perform both compression only and conventional CPR as well as are aware of how to use a PAD and will be willing to do so if someone they are with requires this intervention. There are already many who provide this training but it is not always targeted into the areas of most need and tailored to the needs of groups who may be at most risk. The successful applicant will deliver a national programme which supports existing provision to be fully used and targets areas of highest health inequalities increasing the numbers of people who know what an AED is, when to use it and how to perform CPR, with or without ventilation.
