Tender description

Leeds City Council (LCC) and Bradford Metropolitan District Council (BMDC) are tendering for the collection, transportation and recycling of a range of scrap and WEEE waste streams from various locations in the Leeds and Bradford areas. The wastes these contracts relate to comprise elements of the household, commercial and other wastes collected by the Council or its sub contractors in relation to its statutory duties as outlined in the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and any other applicable regulations. In general terms the materials will be waste streams collected via the authorities network of Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC’s), transfer stations and through bulky waste and fly tipping collections service. The exception to this is the BMDC WEEE contract which includes an element of household collections. The contract is divided into 8 lots. It is envisaged that the contract will be income generating, please note that the estimated values on this notice are for income. Lot 1A LCC Scrap Metal — skips including Large Domestic Appliances (LDAs) and steel vehicle rims. Lot 1B BMDC Scrap Metal — skips including large domestic appliances (LDAs) and steel vehicle rims. Gas bottles included in separate ad hoc collections. Lot 2A LCC LAB — lead acid batteries. Lot 2B BMDC LAB — lead acid batteries. Lot 3A LCC — vehicle rims. Lot 3B BMDC — vehicle rims. Lot 4A LCC — WEEE and Household Batteries — WEEE streams B, C, D and E. Collections from HWRCs. Lot 4B BMDC — WEEE and household batteries — WEEE streams B, C, D and E. Collections from HWRCs and directly from residents.
