Invitation to tender for the operation of Monaghan Comhairle Na nOg and associated activities on behalf of Monaghan County Council

1. INTRODUCTION Monaghan County Council is inviting proposals from suitably qualified individuals / organisations to support the continued development of Monaghan Comhairle na nÓg as a strong inclusive structure for the participation of children and young people in informing local decision and policy making, over a three year period 2020-2023, subject to funding. 2. BACKGROUND Comhairle na nÓg are child and youth councils operating in the 31 Local Authority areas of the country. The purpose of Comhairle is to provide a forum for children and young people from each local authority area to discuss local and national issues of relevance to them and affords them the opportunity to be involved in and inform the development of local policies. Comhairle na nÓg is led and funded at national level by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth Affairs (DCEDIY) under the National Children’s Strategy 2000 and Better Outcomes Brighter Futures, The national policy framework for children & young people, 2014-2020. Funding is administered through Pobal. At local level responsibility rests with Monaghan County Council. Monaghan Comhairle na nÓg is a local ‘youth council’ of approx. thirty young people (12-18 years of age) elected from across the three electoral areas in Monaghan.
