Tender description
The University is establishing a Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) to enable the purchase of a range of power electronics equipment that will be tendered under a lot structure on the DPS. The Driving the Electric Revolution (DER) is an Innovate UK (IUK) Challenge program to support UK industry to seize the economic opportunities from the global transition to clean technologies and electrification. The programme will help businesses across numerous sectors including transport, energy, construction and agriculture to invest and work together to capitalise on the UK’s strengths in this technology. The DER program vision is ‘To make the UK globally recognised as the centre of excellence in PEMD manufacturing processes’. As part of that program, Newcastle University has been awarded a large grant to establish a new DER Innovation Centre (DER-IC) in the North East of England. The NE DER-IC will concentrate on the prototyping and scale-up of power electronics and electric motors. This advert is focused on the power electronics aspect and the purchase of relevant equipment for that activity. The power electronics manufacturing DPS lots are as follows: 1) Pick and Place — Die Level Equipment, 2) Pick and Place — Packaged Devices Equipment, 3) Die Attach — Silver Sinter Equipment, 4) Attach — Solder Equipment, 5) Paste Dispense Equipment, 6) Screen printing equipment, 7) Robotic Placement Equipment, 8) Furnaces — General Equipment, 9) Encapsulation Equipment, 10) Wire Bonding and Connections Equipment, 11) Spot Welding Equipment, 12) Visual Inspection Equipment, 13) Electrical Test Equipment, 14) Material and Process Test Equipment. Suppliers must indicate which lots they are applying by completing the relevant technical lot questionnaire(s). Applications to this DPS can be made by registering via the University's eTendering portal at: https://procontract.due-north.com/Advert/Index?advertId=bfe9fd10-bd1e-eb11-8105-005056b64545 The contract reference is NU/1609. The deadline for submitting an application in Round 1 of this DPS is 14.00 GMT on Friday 11 December 2020. If you miss this Round 1 deadline, a new Round (2) will automatically open. Lot 1: Pick and Place — die level equipment This lot covers all requirements for machinery for automatic picking of semiconductor die from either tape, film or appropriate boxes and placement on power modules with high accuracy Lot 2 - Pick and Place – packaged devices equipment This lot covers all requirements for Machinery for automatic picking of packaged semiconductor devices from either tape, film or appropriate boxes and placement on power modules with high accuracy Lot 3 - Die Attach – silver sinter equipment This lot covers all requirements for Equipment to attach semiconductor die to a suitable substrate via a pressure sintering approach consistent with the use of silver based materials Lot 4 - Attach - solder equipment This lot covers all requirements for Equipment capable of attaching a wide range of power electronic parts using techniques such as solder preforms, solder pastes etc. Lot 5 - Paste Dispense equipment This lot covers all requirements for Equipment to dispense paste or other similar materials onto a suitable substrate with high accuracy. Lot 6 - Screen Printing equipment This lot covers all requirements for Equipment to dispense materials such as solder paste and then use a screen printing process to distribute it on common power electronic solders. Lot 7 - Robotic Placement equipment This lot covers all requirements for Equipment for the placement of power electronic assemblies and associated circuit boards into equipment cases for final assembly. Lot 8 - Furnaces - general equipment This lot covers all requirements for Equipment for heat treating power electronic circuits or assemblies under controlled conditions. Lot 9 - Encapsulation equipment This lot covers all requirements for Equipment for encapsulating power electronic parts and assemblies Lot 10 - Wire Bonding and Connections equipment This lot covers all requirements for Equipment for connecting power electronic parts using wire bonds and other connection technologies. Lot 11 - Spot Welding equipment This lot covers all requirements for Equipment for high precision spot welding of copper and other metal connectors to power electronic assemblies. Lot 12 - Visual Inspection equipment This lot covers all requirements for Equipment for visual inspection of power electronic parts and assemblies during prototyping Lot 13 - Electrical Test equipment This lot covers all requirements for Equipment for performing in-situ electrical tests using appropriate probes during prototyping. Lot 14 - Material and Process Test equipment This lot covers all requirements for Equipment for performing material tests on power electronic parts and assemblies during prototyping – including for example ultrasonic and x-ray tests
