Tender description

Why the Work is Being Done The NHS Long Term Plan has committed to improve access to appropriate mental health support and improve the experience and outcomes of children and young people aged 0-25 with a mental health need from all backgrounds. These commitments are underpinned by the broader ambition for digitally-enabled care to become ubiquitous across the NHS. Last year, NHSE/I mental health teams and the digital transformation team at NHSX ran a discovery on the opportunities for harnessing technology in the period from referral to first appointment in CYPMH services. This work then informed an alpha that completed earlier this year which concentrated on trailing ways to support local digital transformation with local CYPMH services. This project is being undertaken to develop a support model for local NHS trusts and the adoption of improvements which have been identified in discovery and tested locally in the alpha. Our assumption is that by collaboratively developing a service model for what a ‘good’ end to end digitally enabled pathway looks like, along with access to shareable assets/resources, solutions to common problems with the right central and local support, will accelerate local digital transformation. Problem to Be Solved NHSX and NHSE&I are seeking innovative approaches to support and enable local services to transform their services by integrating digital as part of the whole pathway of care for service users, in line with the ambitions of the Long Term Plan. This project will seek to: ● Develop scalable, inclusive, user-centred design approaches that work in a mental health context, compliment existing methods and are easily adopted ● Validated and synthesise previous work completed into service design artefacts and resources that can be used for trusts to standardise, scale and formalise delivery of digital transformation ● Develop and test a general support offer and materials which can be used to increase skills and understanding of design led transformation in the CYPMH system ● Develop and deliver a targeted support and coaching package across selected teams across local, regional and national organisations to build awareness of the work and develop capability in specific teams to use the resources to deliver digital transformation locally ● Develop recommendations for how to create a sustainable support offer for building skills and understanding of user centered design led transformation ● Develop a digital transformation roadmap to support decisions on future investment in this area Who Are the Users Staff at a local, regional and national level who are involved in leading, coordinating and delivering digital service transformation projects in local Children and Young People’s Mental Health Services and the wider Integrated Care Systems.
