Tender description

Public Health England, an executive agency of the Department of Health and Social and Social Care (DH) (hereafter referred to as ‘Public Health England’ or ‘PHE’ also referred to as the ‘Contracting Authority’ or the ‘Authority’ or the ‘Employer’) entered into an agreement with NHS Digital. PHE has requested NHSD be responsible for the end to end provision of the following services which include: • Bowel Cancer Screening (BCSS), • National Statistical Reporting Application (NSRA), • Cervical Screening call/recall Audit Service, • Breast Screening Select call/recall Annual Review Service, • Breast Screening Select call/recall Service. These systems are fundamental to the operational delivery of screening programmes, and to PHE’s assurance of the quality, safety and effectiveness of the programmes. This is the annual Service Level Agreement (SLA) between PHE and NHS Digital for the provision of cancer screening IT support and development services. NHS Digital provides essential software development, support, maintenance, service management and hosting for a number of cancer screening IT systems owned by PHE which include: (1) Bowel Cancer Screening (BCSS); National Statistical Reporting Application (NSRA); Cervical Screening call/recall Audit Service; Breast Screening Select call/recall Annual Review Service; Breast Screening Select call/recall Service. These systems are fundamental to the operational delivery of screening programmes, and to PHE’s assurance of the quality, safety and effectiveness of the programmes. NHS Digital and its predecessor organisations have provided software development and support services to cancer screening programmes since their inception in the 1980s. The scope of work has increased with the addition of new programmes.
