Tender description
At this time, the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) is exploring the potential to create a suite of intelligent and connected systems in order to illustrate and test the possibilities from a streamlined supply chain network within Scotland. This testbed is called RESuME which will comprise of hardware and software solutions aimed at integrating manufacturing equipment and supporting systems across NMIS specialist facilities (AFRC, LMC and Digital Factory) under the ISA-95 model. The University seeks notes of interest from suppliers relating to a potential procurement to deliver a roadmap that will aid in the development of RESuME. The University expects that qualified suppliers will possess demonstrable expertise and experience in the below areas: >The design and specification of ISA95 compliant hardware and software architectures with seamless integration across all layers within manufacturing environments. >Experience of implementing these architectures would be desirable. >Knowledge of manufacturing communication standards with regards to incorporating Industry 4.0 approaches. >Knowledge of vendor diverse manufacturing hardware and software solutions for data acquisition and control including PLC's, CNC's, edge devices, sensors, gateways etc. >Experience in digitising manufacturing data acquisition processes (e.g. moving from manual data harvesting from HMIs to fully online networked solutions) which led to data-driven decision making. Any supplier will need to work closely with the RESuME team to identify gaps in our technology infrastructure, while highlighting key gaps in current thinking and ensure that the vision of the digital factory is clear, ambitious, future proof (within reason) and inspiring. The expected outcomes to be delivered by the roadmap include: >The technology required to create a connected digital smart factory using our current infrastructure as a starting point. >Details regarding the technology required and key suppliers who currently have offerings in each technical area. >Forecasted technology developments over the next 5 years and reasonable suggestions on technology direction covering 10-15 years ahead. >Considering current capability, detail the necessary developments and acquisitions required to build on our existing base to create a live instance of the future factory vision. >The roadmap will be supported by a detailed, ISA95 compliant IIoT and network architecture (hardware and software) developed specifically for NMIS infrastructure, allowing connectivity and live data acquisition for all equipment and machinery located across NMIS sites as well as ensuring seamless data processing, management and other future data operations. >Data acquisition solutions, while in the IIoT and network architecture will need to be applied to the existent equipment located across NMIS sites. Connectivity solutions for machinery and equipment can be supported by additional edge devices, external sensors, gateways etc. >Make references to scalability and expect evolution of our infrastructure and capabilities as it should contain solutions that can be adopted by SME and large enterprises in the future.
