Tender description
Contract for provision of commuter, regional and long distance rail services on the UK conventional mainline rail system. They serve the key cities of Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Hull, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow. It is envisaged the services would run between: • North West services between Manchester Airport/Liverpool and Glasgow/Edinburgh; • North Transpennine services between Manchester/Manchester Airport/Liverpool and Leeds/Hull/York/Scarborough/Middlesbrough/Newcastle and Edinburgh; • South Transpennine services from Manchester Airport to Cleethorpes via Sheffield. There is a mixture of leisure, business and commuter travel on these rail services. These services would be similar to those currently operated on the TransPennine Express.
