NHS Arden and GEM CSU, on behalf of NHS England Midlands are looking to assist the Commissioner in scoping the sourcing of an Abnormally Invasive Placenta service. NHS England are looking to understand how an AIP network could operate across the Midlands and wishes to speak with suitably experienced and qualified providers in order to assist with this work. Interested providers are encouraged to complete a survey which can be found on NHS Arden and GEM CSU’s EU Supply portal. Providers should express an interest in attending the event via the survey mentioned above. ‘Please note this notice is for a market engagement event only’ NHS Arden and GEM CSU, on behalf of NHS England Midlands are looking to assist the Commissioner in scoping the sourcing of an Abnormally Invasive Placenta service. Abnormally Invasive Placenta (AIP), also known as placenta accreta spectrum, or accreta, increta and percreta, is a potentially life-threatening pregnancy complication with an increasing incidence worldwide. Given the complexity of the pelvic surgery often required at delivery, maternal morbidity is high. AIP services will provide specialist maternity care services for women suspected of and diagnosed with AIP as part of a regional network arrangement inclusive of local maternity services. This includes specialist prenatal diagnosis, risk assessment and definitive treatment of AIP by a multidisciplinary team with expertise in complex pelvic surgery. AIP Centres will have antenatal imaging (fetal medicine or radiology), adult intensive care, level three neonatal intensive care services and immediate access to blood products. NHS England are looking to understand how an AIP network could operate across the Midlands and wishes to speak with suitably experienced and qualified providers in order to assist with this work.
