Tender description
Mid and East Antrim Borough Council are proposing to develop a new Waste Transfer Station and Household Waste Recycling Centre adjacent to the existing Sullatober Depot in Carrickfergus. The purpose of the development is to allow for a facility for the tipping and bulking of household wastes prior to its loading into heavy goods vehicles for onward transfer to recycling or recovery facilities. The proposed development will include the following: Site clearance; Cut and fill/regrading works for the creation of a lower level skip yard for the household waste recycling centre; Design and construction of reinforced concrete retaining walls; Fully developing the design of precast concrete elements; Obtaining all necessary statutory and regulatory approvals (with the exception of planning permission and environmental permit/waste management licence); Foundation works that may include piling; Design and construction of a portal frame steel building to a structural specification with steel cladding and roller shutter doors; Construction of reinforced concrete yard areas; Provision of rebar schedules for reinforced concrete works; Provision of office space; Traffic management provision to include permanent bollards and barriers; Site security to include fencing and gates; Associated mechanical and electrical works including the provision of a water supply, general power and lighting; Design and construction of associated mechanical and electrical works for the recycling centre and waste transfer station to comply with the specification outlined in the Invitation to Tender documents; Undertaking traffic management on the public highway; Construction of site foul and storm drainage with storm water attenuation; Provision of site lighting; Provision of CCTV equipment to meet a performance specification; and Liaison with NIE regarding the diversion of overhead power lines and connection of a new supply.
