Tender description
The Government has recently announced the introduction of the Port Infrastructure Fund (PIF), available to Ports across the UK to improve readiness for our exit from the European Union on 1 January 2021. In order to access this fund, Peel Ports, along with other major Port Operators across the UK are in a competitive bidding process to secure funding for proposed capital border works. The competitive bidding process to secure PIF funding is underway and a decision is expected mid-December but any funding award is predicated on works being completed by 1 July 2021. As such Peel Ports is proposing to conduct a procurement process using the Achilles UVDB pre-qualification platform to source a partner to support undertaking any such works for which funding may be awarded. Interested parties should ensure their Achilles UVDB profile is live and updated by midday on Tuesday 3 November 2020. The following general categories of works will be required: Port entry infrastructure • border control points and checks; • warehousing and storage; • vehicle loading and unloading. Ancillary infrastructure • staff and driver welfare; • offices, utilities and technology infrastructure; • port security, access and servicing facilities. Port access infrastructure • road improvements including entry and exit access; • increased capacity including parking for HGVs and trailers; • waiting/holding areas to facilitate necessary checks. Peel Ports is proposing works at 4 of its major sites to either create, or upgrade and enhance border controls and checks. These 4 sites are: • Port of Liverpool, • Port of Heysham, • Port of Sheerness, • Clydeport.
