East Lothian and Midlothian Health and Social Care Partnerships are committed to providing a range of effective and high-quality services to meet the needs of adults ordinarily resident within the East Lothian and Midlothian Council boundaries whose visual impairment impacts upon independent living, or carers of people with a visual impairment who would benefit from support. East Lothian Council and Midlothian Council intend to procure a service provider capable of delivering a service that will meet the following priorities: 1.Deliver a rehabilitation and mobility service for people with Visual Impairment with a clear referral pathway and agreed support plan with agreed outcomes 2.Make use of new and assistive technologies to deliver high quality communication support and maximise independence 3.Maintain a Registration and Certification service for visually impaired people in East Lothian and Midlothian. 4.Maximise opportunities to raise awareness of issues associated with visual impairment, both with professionals and the general public, through training, public events and utilising a range of other appropriate, effective means of communication.
