Tender description
This request for tenders is seeking to engage a suitably qualified and experienced trainer to deliver a tailored training programme designed to provide participants with the skills to achieve the project objectives. The training workshops should formalise how the communities in the two counties can continue to work together to capitalise on this tourism product. Failte Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way Operational Programme 2015-2019 recommended that a series of drives adjacent to the Wild Atlantic Way be piloted. This was to provide visitors with additional experiences in areas adjacent to the WAW, increase dwell time and encourage spatial spread of visitors across the wider western regions. Two such drives off the Wild Atlantic Way were identified, namely The Shannon Estuary Drive and The Burren Drive. This proposal concerns the Shannon Estuary Drive, which has subsequently been renamed as the “Shannon Estuary Way”. A preparatory phase of workshops was carried out in 2018 and it is expected that this will inform this subsequent programme of training. This training phase included 5 workshops around establishing a shared destination mindset for the communities. The “Shannon Estuary Way Destination Development Training Programme” objectives include: To develop a destination identity based on shared history across the estuary and to develop a “Destination Mindset” amongst community and trade that transcends the county boundaries and has the capacity to deliver a distinctive Shannon Estuary Way experience to visitors To engage communities along the estuary route in efforts to develop this destination identity To develop strong collaborative networks and a shared vision for the development of the Shannon Estuary Way as a tourism destination and ensure that all towns along its route are working as a unified destination and to provide an opportunity for individual businesses and communities along the route to network and build relationships
