Darlington Borough Council housing service secures temporary accommodation for those that are homeless. The main requirements of this contract is to provide accommodation for short periods of time, it is expected that a breakfast should be provided and an option of an evening meal. Providers can join this service at any time subject to the successful completion of the relevant procurement process. Darlington Borough Council housing service secures temporary accommodation for those that are homeless. Those eligible for this service are required to meet certain criteria which are defined in the Homeless Reduction Act 2017, namely: • Eligibility — is the applicant eligible for public funds; • Homelessness — is the applicant homeless or threatened with homelessness; • Priority need — is the applicant more vulnerable than a normal member of society. Darlington Borough Council is looking to compile a group of organisations which the Council can call upon to place temporary homeless people and families. The Council requires accommodation for the following groups: — generic — medical — vulnerable — challenging. The above groups could have the following classifications within them: — generic: could include, families, single person, elderly, employment/education needs and mortgage/rent arrear issues; — medical: could include, physical health issues and may need level access/adapted accommodation; — vulnerable: could include, people with mental health issues, people who have learning disabilities, people who have suffered domestic abuse, young people/parents and people leaving care. — challenging: could include, people who are offenders, prison leavers or those managed in by a multi-agency approach (Mappa), people who have alcohol and substance misuse problems and people who have general challenging behaviour.
