Tender description

The University of Portsmouth is currently undertaking the construction of a GBP 55 million sports centre that will be ready by mid-2021. The facility will be one of the greenest sports facilities in the country and is set to become the first stand-alone BREEAM Outstanding sports facility with a swimming pool in the UK. The building is of architectural significance and is the first project of a GBP 400 million estates masterplan. The health and fitness offer planned for the facility is a vital part of the plans and during our feasibility work this came up as the top area we needed to improve our provision. In order to compete it is necessary for us to have a high quality, exciting and sector leading equipment to satisfy our students, staff and wider community users and ensure we stand out from local budget, mid range and boutique gym competitors. As such the equipment will also need to appropriately complement the high-end design and materiality of our new building.
