A particle size analyser is required for Geography/Geosciences teaching for the E3 Learning Foundry project at Trinity. The instrument is required for the analysis of soil and sediment samples from a variety of sources including glacial till, coastal environments and sediment core samples. An opportunity exists to purchase a Mastersizer 3000 instrument at a significant discount. This instrument offers an exceptional financial saving and compatibility benefits associated with an existing Mastersizer 2000 system. These include the ability to import historic sample files for direct comparison and also to emulate Mastersizer 2000 analyses and calculation, all within the Mastersizer 3000 software. Training of new users and development of methods are also minimal given the consistency with existing lab hardware. However, Trinity welcomes expressions of interest from any vendors who can offer a comparable solution.
