Tender description

The Chemistry Section at Forensic Science Ireland, requires the supply and installation of a Comparison Microscope for the examination of paint. The instrument offered should be modern, easy to use and robust. The instrument should consist of 2 compound light microscopes using reflected (RL) and transmitted light (TL), connected by an optical bridge allowing paint samples to be viewed simultaneously for comparison purposes. Magnification of up to 500x and an x and y axis scale on each scope is required for taking co- ordinate readings during examination. If the instrument is based on LED illumination, a warm light filter is also required to marry the effect of halogen lighting. The instrument must be capable of incorporating both reflected and transmitted light and polarizers for both RL and TL.
