Tender description
The University has an ambition to create a Smart Campus which will ‘enable everyone to engage in world-leading, inclusive learning, teaching and ethical research, adapting to the needs of people and place by unlocking the potential of technology and data.’ The University of Bristol 2016 Strategy set out its vision and 7 year roadmap for future development of the university and its campus facilities. The Physical and Digital Infrastructure and education and student experience strategies seek to revamp and transform digital infrastructure to be more resilient, scalable, flexible and secure and to support the student learning environment, as new technologies change behaviours and expectations. The University has an ambition to create a Smart Campus which will ‘enable everyone to engage in world-leading, inclusive learning, teaching and ethical research, adapting to the needs of people and place by unlocking the potential of technology and data.’ The roadmap of initiatives to realise this vision include: The Digital Strategy: A structured strategy delivered by the ‘Infrastructure Modernisation’ and ‘Digital University’ Programmes to provide globally accessible technical services and digital solutions to empower world class learning and research. Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus: a new GBP 300 million smart campus with 7 new flexible research, teaching and accommodation buildings. Campus Heart: a new University Library with world class digital infrastructure and technology. Key to the success of these aims and initiatives is the delivery of the Modern Network in support of the Infrastructure Modernisation Programmes, to transform the current network which serves 250 sites and 30 000 students, staff and wider Bristol family in UK and globally. The procurement of digital connectivity services for this Modern Network is planned for early 2021. The University is now undertaking a pre-procurement exercise to seek early input and feedback from potential suppliers in order to help inform the University’s future procurement approach for this requirement. Initially, a supplier webinar event will be held in October to engage with potential suppliers, followed by a Request for Information. Suppliers are encouraged to contact the University procurement team to register for the event.
