8719: Request For Information - Town Centre Wayfinding

Stockport is already a great place to live, work, play and connect, but we're not content to stop here. We want to build on this for the future, creating a town we’re all proud of, as well as more jobs and opportunities for all. The centre of Stockport is undergoing a radical and exciting £1 billion programme of investment. Rooted in its rich heritage, but looking to the future and its role in the global economy with a varied suite of commercial, residential and leisure opportunities for all. As part of its regeneration activities Stockport Council is currently implementing a wayfinding strategy for the town centre with a specific emphasise on pedestrian signage. The focus of wayfinding in Stockport town centre is to improve the ability of visitors to find their way and appreciate what Stockport town centre has to offer. Making these improvements will help support the local economy. It is especially important to address the differing levels in the town and the features which segregate sections of the town centre, such as the A6, which create a coherent experience for those visiting Stockport town centre. The identification of relevant parking opportunities for the different town centre attractions is also a key part of the process through the installation of new Visual Messaging Screens.
