Supply and Installation of Pontoon at Prehen T HCO 19-158

Tender description

Introduction Derry City and Strabane District Council intend to install a pontoon at the site of the original boat house at Prehen to facilitate the various users of the river. The works include piled support for the new pontoon, minor site works, the installation of a platform lift and hoist supplied by Derry City and Strabane District Council. Specification The new pontoon will be designed to float on the river anchored by piles and be accessed via. three hinged gangways/bridges from the existing launch area adjacent to the existing boathouse. The pontoon is a “design and build” contract where upon appointment, the successful contractor will have to employ a specialist pontoon supply company to design, supply and install the pontoon. The services of a specialist marine piling company will also be required for the design and installation of the piled support for the pontoon. The pontoon shall be constructed of galvanized and or stainless steel components as per detailed drawings supplied with a mini perforated GRP/GRC finish. Power and water supplies are required at the pontoon also. As well as the pontoon itself, a platform lift will be installed to provide access to the launch area for persons with disabilities. There will also be a wash down area created for swimmers and others to wash themselves down having come out of the river. Some minor site works including the removal of an existing circular planted bed, some addition fencing to extend the existing fence and make the site more secure. In river working is only permitted during 1st November 20 – 31st March 21. In river elements of the works within this project must be completed before the end of March 21, the next available opportunity to complete in river works would commence on 1st November 21. Contract Completion Certification: Main Contractor must complete items as listed below prior to the Employer completing and issuing contract, ‘Completion Certificate’, such items are as follows: Submission of all relevant Operation and Maintenance Manuals, (2no. Hard copies and 3no. digital copies – CD Format). All relevant original testing and commissioning certification. Compliance with Works Information. All snagging items as identified to be made good by the Main Contractor.
