Tender description

The provision of ultrasonic wind sensors. The Met Office wishes to replace its current network of wind sensors. We require new combined wind speed and direction sensors that will be deployed on marine buoys operating around the British Isles. It is anticipated that around 60 sensors may be required throughout the life of any subsequent contract (however, this estimate is provided for information only and no guarantees of demand can be provided). Due to the nature of the marine environment, the solution will be subjected to extreme conditions such as:strong winds, driving rain, saltwater, ice, vibration and shock.
