Waterways Ireland Climate Action Plan

Waterways Ireland is cognisant of the ever increasing impacts of Climate Change and how this impacts the fulfillment of its statutory remit, asset management and stakeholder supports. Taking decisive action to confront climate disruption will be a major challenge for our organisation going forward but it is a task we are willing and able to meet. In the same way that climate change does not recognise borders, Waterways Ireland as one of the North South Cooperation Bodies, is ideally placed to showcase how climate resilient actions and adaptation strategies can be effectively implemented across two jurisdictions. Recognition of our status and how it affects our day to day activities must be a core aspect of this Climate Action Plan. In line with our 10 Year Strategy (currently under development) and new Heritage Plan 2030 (currently under development), this Climate Action Plan would run to 2030, with a comprehensive mid-term review.
