Tender description
The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is seeking tenders from interested parties to manage the Curlew Conservation Programme (CCP) from November 2020 to September 2022, with the contract reviewed after 01 September 2021. Subject to a satisfactory tender being received, a contract shall ensue, with one person committed to being the Project Manager (PM) of the Curlew Conservation Programme. The CCP was established in 2017 to pioneer Curlew conservation efforts in Ireland. It is funded and coordinated by the NPWS and the Department of Agriculture, Food & the Marine, with a comprehensive framework that includes habitat work, survey effort, nest protection, public and community engagement and much more. The CCP involves a wide range of actors, proactively working to help Curlew. In 2020, nine geographical areas that are important for breeding Curlew in Ireland were assigned locally-based teams, working with local people and adapting techniques, efforts and priorities to what works best locally. See https://www.npws.ie/farmers-and-landowners/schemes/curlew-conservation-programme The person appointed as PM will be responsible for managing and coordinating the day-to-day running of the programme, coordinating fieldwork, ensuring protocols are adhered to, collating data, encouraging and advising on habitat enhancement measures, liaising with NPWS personnel and fielding queries from various stakeholders, most notably landowners, members of the public and the media and will report to the Head of Agri-Ecology within NPWS and will liaise on a regular basis with NPWS professional/scientific and administrative staff. Tenderers should submit their tenders via the eTenders portal, having read the associated documents ‘RFT for Curlew Conservation Programme Project Manager’ and ‘Competencies for CCP PM eTenders Sep 2020’. A completed copy of the competencies document should accompany the tender document being submitted by the tenderer.
