Following this review, the Council is looking to commission a range of strength-based, recovery focused accommodation services that offer greater choice and control and complement the existing mental health pathways and services. It is not a formal invitation to tender. 1) Overview Our vision is for a mental health accommodation pathway where Islington residents have greater control over their health and wellbeing, and are supported to live healthier lives. The pathway will proactively promote independence and lead to residents successfully living in their own homes. All mental health pathway services will deliver flexible support that is effective, and provide a positive experience within a high quality and homely environment. All services will work collaboratively with other mental health pathway, community and universal services to realise the vision. Islington Council is reviewing the borough’s mental health accommodation services. Following this review, the Council is looking to commission a range of strength-based, recovery focused accommodation services that offer greater choice and control and complement the existing mental health pathways and services. It is anticipated that the contract notice relating to this PIN will be published in early 2021. 2) Provisional approach Islington Council is looking to procure new accommodation support and residential care services over the next 2 years. The procurement will take place in phases as current contracts expire. Contracts will vary in size and may cover multiple sites. Currently, the council is exploring purchasing • 123 high mental health supported housing places; • 50 medium mental health supported housing support places; • 34 mental health residential care places. One 17 bed Islington Council owned property, suitable for high mental health supported housing, will be provided. Service providers interested in delivering the remaining places across all interventions will be asked to provide suitable buildings. All properties must be located within the Islington borough boundaries. All providers interested in delivering the services will be required to demonstrate appropriate staffing levels.
