Tender description
Drinkcoach is an online and app-based support platform to help people reduce their alcohol intake, reduce alcohol-related harms and improve people’s health. It consists of three support modes: 1) Self-assessment Alcohol test: This is based on the World Health Organisation's Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) which is recognised internationally as best practice for alcohol screening. 2) The Online Coaching Service, delivering online Extended Brief Interventions to risky drinkers, face-to-face via Skype. 3) A free App designed to help users track and change their drinking. Outline and aims - Improve prevention and early intervention among people who are drinking at increasing or high risk levels - Improve and increase support for people who may be drinking at higher-risk levels but who are either unaware that their drinking is at an unsafe level, or are unwilling to/anxious about accessing face to face support - Increase numbers of referrals to local treatment service and assessments carried out by them for people drinking at high risk or dependent levels, through the signposting element of Drinkcoach to the local service. - We hope that this service will also encourage people with families, full time jobs or other commitments/barriers that mean they are less likely to attend face to face services, to access support and improve their health - Improve awareness of health risks linked to alcohol within the local community and raise the profile of support options available (for example, through frequent social media advertising)
