A point of care testing Hb A1c service is required across clinical locations in Northern Ireland using POCT analysers suitable for professional use. BSO Procurement and Logistics Service (PaLS), on behalf of the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, Western Health and Social Care Trust, Northern Health and Social Care Trust, South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust and Southern Health and Social Care Trust wish to seek engagement with the marketplace to ascertain the market’s capabilities for the supply, delivery, installation, commissioning and maintenance of POC Hb A1c Testing. Glycated Haemoglobin A1c (Hb A1c) is the biochemical marker of choice to assess the risk of long term secondary diabetic complications such as retinopathy, neuropathy and nephropathy. Point of Care Testing (POCT) for Hb A1c offers some advantages over lab based measurement in terms of result availability and sample volume. The Northern Ireland (NI) Trusts require a fully connected POCT service at clinical locations, using POCT analysers suitable for professional use. The Trusts wish to investigate what is currently available in the marketplace with regard to functional attributes and characteristics of current ‘POC Hb A1c Testing’ and wish to ensure that any future Tender fully recognises existing and future operational opportunities. To this end, an open invitation is being extended to all interested parties to declare their interest in participating in a product awareness session.
