Tender description
The purpose of this procurement is to award a contract for the application of microasphalt surfacing treatment to carriageways identified in the programme of works for 2021. The procurement procedure is a mini competition between the four suppliers approved from the framework set up in 2016. When applied to appropriate sites, microasphalt improves skid resistance and therefore safety for highway users, prevents water penetration of the carriageway structure and improves ride quality, with an expected life of 7 to 10 years. The mini competition covers a planned programme of 56 sites (170,000m2) for 2021 with an estimated cost of £1,500,000
