EirGrid’s business functions are real-time 24x7 activities. Consequently the IT and telecom systems which support the business are also highly available (24x7). In order to carry out its functions, EirGrid’s Control Centres in Dublin and Belfast require comprehensive and extremely reliable telecommunications networks and services, which are capable of supporting the provision of voice and data from Transmission and Generation stations located across the island. The dispatch of electricity generators in a safe and cost effective manner by the Control Centres is supported by the use of sophisticated on-line software which in turn requires countrywide, highly reliable, telecom networks to be in place. The primary objective of this tender is to acquire consultancy services on a range of telecommunications topics as the need arises. The request for services will be on a case by case basis and each request will carry its own specific requirements EirGrid intends to establish a single supplier framework agreement. The framework agreement period will be for an initial duration of three years with the option to extend annually for up to an additional two years, subject always to the satisfactory performance of the supplier. The estimated spend of 250000 is including the possible extensions.
