Restoration, Alterations and Extension to Existing Stable Block and Associated Works to Vandeleur Gardens, Kilrush, Co. Clare.

Tender description

The Council and Trust have now secured funding to complete phase 1 of the the restoration of the original Stable Block buildings (a protected structure ref. K27) which to date have been partially used for gardening services with many sections remained dilapidated and derelict. This collection of buildings involves the four sides to a typical Quadrangle formed around a rectangular Courtyard. The plan for phase 1 is to restore this collection of buildings and create new interpretive spaces, visitor welcome reception area, retail spaces, a multi – functional community meeting space and public toilets and to safeguard the remaining sections. The project is funded by Rural Regional Development Funding combined with funding provided by Clare County Council. The scope of works is fully described in the enclosed tender documentation (drawings, specifications, pricing document, etc.) and generally comprise: o The restoration and alteration to the existing stable block building (protected structure ref. K27) to accommodate a reception area, museum/exhibition space, crafts/arts, retail and ancillary services to promote local heritage o To carry out alterations to pedestrian & vehicular circulation within the site to improve services infrastructure o Construction of a new extension to house the garden maintenance/services division. o Improve Visitor Experience and facilities o The provision of temporary accommodation for garden maintenance staff for the duration of the works contract. A separate tender competition will run concurrently to this tender for the Interpretive Design and Fit-out of Exhibition spaces and reception area. The successful Contractor will be required to facilitate third party contractors’ access to the site towards the latter end of the main works contract.
