Peel Ports London Medway at Port of Sheerness is seeking interest from suppliers for the provision, installation, integration and commissioning of a Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) radar antenna. This is to replace the existing Garrison Point X Band Radar. The radar provision and performance must meet the requirements for VTS radar systems as set out in the IALA Guideline 1111 preparation of operational and technical performance requirements for VTS systems. The radar antenna would be expected to be compatible with the existing radar transceiver at Garrison Point. Furthermore the radar system must be able to be fully integrated with the existing VTMS system utilised by the Port of Sheerness VTS service operated from their Group Port Control Centre in Liverpool and the supplier must be able to work alongside VTMS system supplier in implementing this integration and commissioning. The port has two other VTS radar sites and working in conjunction with these two other systems, the Garrison point radar must complement the full coverage requirement of the VTS authority at Sheerness. In addition to this it is likely that the location of the existing radar antenna on top of the historic Garrison Point Fort will not be available and suppliers may be required to design, supply and install a suitable alternative radar elevation structure at a suitable adjacent location. The suitable adjacent location would be recommended by the supplier following site survey and a study of the VTS radar requirements. It is expected that following initial expressions of interest from suppliers they may be invited to attend the site to conduct operational requirements meetings, and to conduct site surveys. It is likely that this procurement will be below threshold as such it is not intended that a further contract notice will be published. This notice is for market research purposes only.
