Tender description

Aldershot Crematorium has 3 cremators, 2 of which need replacement. The Council would like to award the contract for the supply of 2 replacement cremators to the current maintenance provider as this will sit well under the maintenance contract .• the crematorium currently has one of three cremators functional leaving us vulnerable from a business continuity viewpoint, this has been highlighted on the risk register. • the proposed supplier have a unique design of a containerised cremator which can be operational within our existing yard area in approximately 12 weeks. The Council need to commission this asap as it is expected the number of cremations will increase as we approach the winter. • at a later date the containerised cremator can also be removed from the container, lowered through the roof and installed within our crematory. The purchase of 2 new specialist cremators to ensure that the crematorium is more functional to deal with increased cremations over the winter period. The Council can only lift the roof off of the crematorium once, so the first cremator will be self contained and functioning outside the premises while to second one is being built. When both cremators are on site, then work can begin to install. The timescale would ensure that RBC is prepared for a potential 2nd wave of the coronavirus anticipated for autumn 2020.
