Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) has recently undertaken a consultation on a proposed bus franchising scheme in accordance with section 123E of the Transport Act 2000 (as amended by the Bus Services Act 2017) and is currently in the process of considering the impact of Covid-19 upon the underlying assumptions within the franchising scheme assessment. This knowledge will assist TfGM in planning any future specifications that may be required. In particular, TfGM would like to engage with suppliers regarding: Network Planning and Design; Electronic Ticketing Machines (ETM) and performance/operation monitoring, including Audio Visual Announcements (AVA) and blinds; Driver communication and radio; Operator payment calculator; and On-Bus CCTV. Suppliers can engage with TfGM regarding specific items within the above list, or generally across all themes. Suppliers should note that this PIN does not constitute a call-for competition, and a decision whether or not to make the proposed franchising scheme has not been made. The purpose of this PIN is solely to engage the market to understand current capabilities. Market engagement regarding market capability for network planning and design, including route validation and scheduling.
